Varily's Creative Chats - Koda Amsterdam
I'm thrilled to continue our Varily's Creative Chats series with a conversation with Diana, the founder of Koda Amsterdam!
After a successful 20-year career in retail, Diana felt a strong desire to contribute to a more sustainable future. This led her to create Koda, a company that crafts unique, long-lasting accessories using surplus fabrics from top Dutch brands.
In this interview, we'll delve into Diana's creative process, her passion for sustainable design, and the inspiration behind Koda's beautiful and unique products.
1 - How did you recognise your creative call?
Actually, my call was merely a call for contributing to people and planet after 24 years working in corporate retail. The process of production and transportation of products (mostly made in The Far East, probably by underpaid workers and maybe even children) made me feel uneasy, so I was looking for a new "career" with sustainability as a key ingredient.
2 - We are fascinated about the collaborative side of your business, what sparks the fire of collaboration? Is it love at first sight or a more technical process between the brands?
In my opinion, collaboration is far more important than the product itself, that is the outcome of a creative process in which 1+1=3 or even more than that.
