Dahlia - Capsule Collection
THE INSPIRATION
A sunny morning, a walk on the sand, the smell of fresh flowers... finding joy in simple beauty. The Dahlia capsule collection was born to bring back and celebrate small joys in everyday life.
As 2020 was coming to an end, I felt the urge to create a collection that was Simply Beautiful. In design, we often explore ways to add unpleasant, creepy or unexpected elements to give a sense of surprise to the viewer. On the other hand, when we are under stress, isolated or denied our coping mechanisms our primordial brain goes into a 'fight or flight' mode. Our body fills with adrenaline, we are constantly tense and our vision is blurred... In these moments we feel comforted by simple things. Our brain processes simple stimuli with little effort, giving our tired self a sense of relief. These are the things that bring us joy, make us smile or spark a happy memory.
The Dahlia collection is a manifesto to that Simple Beauty, to the happiness found in the ordinary that we don't see unless taken away. This is a series about sunny days and fresh flowers, because during tough times, these are the things that bring us back.
What is a capsule collection? A series of essential pieces, studied to be combined and matched to create an influential collection that is both a condensed version of the designer’s idea and a fruibile wearable series. In a capsule collection you will find exquisite pieces for every day style and versatile stables that will make a statement for a special occasion. In a few words, everything you need to feel unique in any situation!
The Dahlia is a limited collection (part of our Rainforest series) entirely made of 3D printed nylon, which is finished and dip-dyed by hand to create one-off designer pieces. All the metal parts are handcrafted from sterling silver, making these pieces perfect for people with allergies, as well as eco-friendly and vegan friendly.
